Open:
1. as in “Welcoming,” “Hospitable” or “Democratic”:
Submissions are sought from anyone investigating culture, media, or communication. This should be interpreted as widely as possible: academics, artists, poets, cartographers, detectives. Contributions of any kind are accepted at any time.

This site is based on principles of community or polyvocal production learned from the open source movement.
3. as in “Not Closed”:
The writing in this space is ongoing. These are works in progress because all work is. Once published, authors and users are encouraged to continue developing a piece by submitting their comments.
4. as in according to 4 pragmatic principles:
(1.) interaction, that is
(2.) pluralist (open to and protective of individual difference- in terms of technology and content) and
(3.) framed by communities (open to and protective of difference on a more complex, collective scale) because of a final principle of
