We are in search of … an associate publisher:
As a non-profit, Fuse functions with a minimum number of staff, relying on the volunteer board of directors for development of the mandate and implementation of fundraising/special events and a volunteer editorial committee for the execution of the editorial mandate.
The associate publisher is responsible for all the administrative duties of the magazine. These duties include development, maintenance and expansion of the magazine’s circulation, overseeing advertising sales, writing grants, ensuring that granting requirements are met and advocating on behalf of non-profit culture. The Associate Publisher also aids the Associate Editor over the course of the production cycle in bringing the magazine to print. This position reports directly to the board of directors.
The ideal candidate will have:
* experience administering artist-run organisations, preferably with some publishing experience
* a proven track record in grant writing
* editorial experience, particularly detailed copyediting skills
* sympathy for the editorial mandate of Fuse magazine
* a thorough understanding of the production process
* strong computer knowledge in a Macintosh environment, with a particular focus on administrative software packages (Excel, MYOB, Filemaker), design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, and Indesign), and web-based applications (mySQL databases, Dreamweaver)Please include in your application a CV, writing samples, and a cover letter. Salary: 26,000K per annum, approximately 30 hr work week
