Bits of a conversation between strangers becoming acquaintances. by risa
by Risa Dickens and Jamie Allen.
We met when a little thing I’d written was accepted for publication by him in his Duck and Herring Co.’s summer Pocket Field Guide. After we managed to get his little book from Atlanta into Giant Books here in Montreal (in the Faubourg on St.Catherines), with help from Serah Marie, the conversation changed.
Maybe this is old hat for all of you sexily experienced cyber citizens, but for me the fun of making friends with someone you’ve never seen is brand new. I’ve hovered around the edges of virtual communities taking it all in, and I’ve exchanged functional emails with strangers. But getting that new-friend rush that happens when you get on a run of jokes and mutual appreciation of each others’ work is something else entirely. It’s rare and awesome enough to click with someone new in the real world, let alone the digital one.
Hey Jamie,
So I got them, they’re lovely and the writing is great!
Serah bought them off me for the bookstore.
So could I write you a check and mail it to you? Or is there a better way?
Keep well,
Risa
