Bits of a conversation between strangers becoming acquaintances. by risa
hmm, weekends..weekends are lazy. montreal is kind of lazy, bc you can broke here and still live beautifully. so lots of people are artistically broke here. so there’s lots of bands.
most of the fun places to be in the evening are within a ten minutes walking distance, so there’s much wandering and late food eating. last night after a bbq and late night tv and then out-ness there were dumplings and noodles and poutine. there are also festivals. too many festivals, too many tourists, too out of hand. the jazz fest is great bc there are ten big outdoor stages for ten days of free shows, and the comedy fest is great bc of the drunk shmoozing, and the french fest and african fest are good, but they overshadow the reggae fest and caribana, and the moto fest, and the grand prix are just noisily, smellily pushing it.
on sundays its nice to go to mount royal and lie in the shade and maybe smoke a joint (i mean, if you’re into that) and listen to the drums- tons of people come and drum together and sell hippy crafts. lovely.
there is also some rafting downtown by the lachine canal. but i’ve never been. it sounds fun.
but not as much fun as a goat at a reading. are the goats sweet? my friend was traumatized by his grama’s goat growing up bc it used to chase little him around the pen and head but his butt. which could be fun at a party, but not conducive to short story reading.
