Open is Hiring, sort of.
We’re looking for a few more writers to contribute something funny, mind-bending or true at least once a week. These can be as short or as long as you like, and they can be reposted as they evolve.
We’re looking for illustrators- comic, graf, realist, or strange hybrid style- to contribute a little imagery at least once a week. You’ll probably need access to a scanner to be able to do this job. If you don’t have access but you do live in Montreal we can probably work something out. Again, your drawing can evolve over the course of several posts.
We’re also looking for photographers to contribute little glimpses into the mess (complexity, hypocracy) and beauty of daily life.
Maybe we’re looking for you.
You can contribute anything you like, but the secret guiding scheme is this: Collectively we’re making a messy and many-heading theory of everything.
I think the most interesting theories don’t come from the academy, but are observations and bold claims made in daily life, transcribed and disseminated by systems like the academy. And I think theories develop by being talked about, looked at, and generally opened up. We’re looking for eye-opening perspectives and enjoyable writing styles.
If you’re interested enough in writing for our audience, and in working on this with us, to mentally commit to writing at least one article a week then you should send me (your editor in chief and benevolent dictator) an email with a few article ideas, a short writing sample, and an introduction. But remember: we’re looking for contributing editors. People who can produce material (in whatever medium) regularly and who are interested in taking on more responsibility as the project evolves. If that’s not you, then just submit your brilliant work and don’t worry about applying for this uber elite, crime-fighting, madly-theorizing team.
