Out Here in Mexico. Chapter 5: The Legend of Manitos.  by risa

The Legend of Manitos
by LK

The story goes that this infamous bandito leader had a birth defect giving him little arms like a T-Rex (Manitos). He operated a band of about 20 men in this region for years. His men ambushed buses, VIP cars, and drug shipments without facing consequences.

They robbed and raped, then absconded into the nearby mountainous jungle where the authorities had no chance of catching them. Manitos was actually homosexual and raped men as well as women at gunpoint. I have independently confirmed this story 3 times. Maybe it is a legend though.

Eventually Manitos and his band of banditos took out the wrong load of drugs and the federal government decided to send in the army.

Manitos and his men ambushed the army convoy, robbed them, and killed all of them with the exception of the General, who Manitos allegedly raped repeatedly before sending him back to the Distrito Federal to relate his experience to those who had sent him.

Finally, the federal government put a bounty on Manito’s head and one of his own men turned him in. I hear he died in prison.

Eventually, the government spent some money to improve the road and sent in a massive military presence to civilize this backwater. Bandito attacks still happen regularly at night but daytime travel is OK again. People like me are starting to roll in, with their mouths agape.
