Staying Open.  by risa

Open has been in a pretty constant state of flux since the moment we launched this ship and put ‘er online. I’ve been speaking to friends and family about our ‘redesign’ for a year now, and must finally accept that in-midst-redesign is where Open is meant to be.

Today while walking up the street to the ‘Plus Belle Province’ for a steamie hot dog lunch we had the disturbing realization that our website is, in this way, very much like our apartment, where the furniture never stays put for long. We shook our heads and crinkled our brows and laughed, wondering if this bespoke some irresposible indecisiveness on our part. I have decided to believe instead that this is a sign of our openness to change.

Our newest ideas for the look and feel of Open here have to do with CSS flowers that open (wink nudge) when you hover over them. I’m going to try and figure out the ‘sliding doors’ technique with CSS, and if I can’t do it I’m going to petition poor Elran. But first I need a few flower photos that are sweet and small, and well matched in their open and closed states. If you’d like to contribute to this project, just drop me a line. Otherwise, I’ll look for something good on this huge, free stock photography site. And if all else fails, I’ll wait for the jasmine tree (that I’ve moved around the house three times this week) to blossom again and then I’ll take my own shots.
