the Rules CVP Workbook page 4 by risa
On the right, my little introductory story about how Clayton and Sarah launched the first project, on the left, the rules as they appeared in the chapbook made for the party. notes below.

i really need to thesis today, as i’m hoping the draft i had in on tuesday will be the final one, so i can’t delve theory-wise into too much about rules and limits, though I think they’re fascinating. i’ll say this- rules are, in practice, quite fluid things. the rules as they appear here are almost exactly like the rules we were originally given, EXCEPT. The material list has changed! Some people looked at the kit, and saw the kit itself as included. They ripped up the plastic of the garment bag, they hammered and tortured the metal hangar into taking new shapes. This was so smart, and cool, and, now-that-you-mention-it-obvious, that the kit was added to the material list in time for the party. Those of us who didn’t see it, didn’t use it, and we weren’t cheating, but neither were they. The process forked, and everything was still fine, oddly enough. Nothing collapsed.
Those who did actually cheat, adding rivets or red fabric, may have been gently teased, but that’s about it. In a room full of artsy folk, no one seemed interested in getting militant about the rules.
